Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme: AICTE Issues Guidelines For PGDM, PGCM Standalone Institutions
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has released an official notification regarding a Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) scheme for all its approved PGDM/PGCM Standalone institutions.
The scheme shall be mandatory for all Standalone institutions approved by the Council, said in a notification issued by the AICTE on Thursday.
Under the scheme, a maximum of 5 percent ‘approved intake’ per course shall be available for admission. These seats shall be supernumerary in nature (over and above the approved intake). These supernumerary seats shall be available only to such course(s) in an institution where a minimum of 50 percent of ‘approved intake’ are filled up in last academic year.
“In case of any punitive action (penalty), the TFW seats shall be calculated based on the actual approved intake (reduced intake). Similarly, TFW seats calculated as per the procedure mentioned above ore separate from the TFW seats already reserved /earmarked as a part of punitive action (if any),” the AICTE guidelines read.
Requirements and Eligibility:
-Sons/ daughters of parents whose annual income from all sources shall not exceed Rs 8 Lakh.
-The waiver is limited to the Tuition Fee as approved by the BOG of the institution for all self-financing institutions and by the Government for the Government/ Government-Aided institutions. All other fees except tuition fee shall have to be paid by the beneficiary.
- Academic eligibility for admission remains same as that applicable for other category candidates.
Admission Procedure:
-Each Standalone institution is responsible to effect admission in a very transparent way as per the norms (provided in the Appendix 9) of the Approval Process Handbook.
-In the event of non-availability of students in this category, the same shall not be given to any other category of candidates.
-The institution shall make separate provision while inviting applications for admissions under this category by clearly mentioning the eligibility criteria, making a separate merit list and effect admission on the basis of the merit list so generated.
- Each Standalone institution shall upload a separate list of the students admitted under this category on AICTE web portal for compliance.
-.A letter in this respect shall be issued by the institution for admission to each beneficiary student admitted under this scheme and he/ she shall not be allowed to change the course under any circumstances.
- Each Standalone institution shall display information regarding admitted candidates under TFW scheme / category in their website for information to the students and other stakeholders.
